When was the last time you replaced your mattress? For me, the answer is never, because I've been using the same mattress that I came with in my condo and I've been having terrible sleeps. So I ran the numbers and calculated how much bad sleep was actually costing me. The total was $20,152 a year. Yes, you heard that right. Three bad sleeps a week is three extra coffees a week, and on those days I lose one hour of productive work. If you add up the prices of the extra coffees and the lost one hour of wages, the total is $20,152.52 a year. So to try to fix my sleep problems, I went to visit Sleep Country. The sleep expert helped me realize that the mattress I thought I wanted didn't actually match the way I sleep at all. Because I fall asleep on my back and roll to my side, super firm or super soft mattresses weren't the right fit. It made me realize I never thought about my sleep setup the same way I think about every other investment that I make. And it turns out saving money on a mattress wasn't actually saving me money at all. Now I'm waiting for my new setup to arrive, and I'll let you guys know once I've slept on it. Stay tuned.
