The American Express platinum is one of the most hyped up credit cards in the world - but what do you actually get with this card? Is it worth the $800 annual fee? Starting off with some of the credits you get, you get a $200 annual travel credit that you can use when you book travel on the Amex portal. Next up, you get a $200 annual dining credit that you can use at a restaurant. Now, something to note, the restaurants that they let you pick from are incredibly expensive, so $200 might barely cover a bill for one person. You also get a $100 NEXUS statement credit. Now we'll get into the lounge and airport access, which is where this card stands out. With this credit card, you get access to the Priority Pass, which gives you access to over 1400 airport lounges around the world. There's also a bunch of random other products that come with a free valet at certain airports. You get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status, as well as Marriott Gold Elite status. You also get complimentary upgrades on certain car rental companies. When it comes to the points that you earn on spending, this card is okay. You get two points for every dollar that you spend on travel and dining, three points for every dollar you spend on hotel or car rentals booked through the Amex platform, and one point per dollar on everything else. When you book travel on this credit card, you also get a lot of insurance benefits that are listed here. And also one of my favorite features about this card is having the 24/7 concierge available to call whenever you need them for whatever you need them for. Overall, I would say that this credit card is not worth it for the majority of people, unless you are a frequent traveler.
