To build their AI, companies millions of books, slicing off the scanning the pages, the books in the trash. It's called destructive and it's not came out in court. Anthropic, the company behind the Claude ran a project they literally named in an internal document as an effort to, quote, destructively scan all the world. The guy who used to run Google to run books the truck load and then fed them into a machine with binding off a hydraulic blade. A judge looked at it last year and said, for the books, it's legal, so it's happening at full scale. And some of these are rare editions where almost no other copies are left. Fahrenheit 451 was about a future that burned books to keep everyone calm and stupid. We got was actually weirder. Companies like this are the exact motivation behind the project I'm building called Paranoia.
