Within seconds, the treated area changes from dull brown to bright copper, creating a dramatic contrast with the untouched surface. Copper naturally reacts with oxygen, moisture, and sulfur compounds in the air to form a layer of tarnish. The cleaning solution contains chemicals that dissolve these oxidation products, exposing the clean copper beneath with little or no scrubbing required. Chemical tarnish removers are commonly used to restore copper cookware, decorative pieces, and hardware while reducing the time and effort needed for polishing. After cleaning, many people apply a protective wax or clear coating to help slow future oxidation. No copyright infringement intended. Content is shared for educational purposes only.
