Original Video Credit: IG/randybrasch A water pump housing is opened to reveal its flexible rubber impeller while the shaft is turned by hand. Even though the blades begin bent in the wrong direction, they quickly flip over as the impeller starts rotating. This works because the impeller's flexible vanes are designed to deform as they pass through the pump's eccentric housing. During the first few rotations, the blades naturally bend into the correct orientation, creating sealed chambers that move water through the pump. Flexible impeller pumps are widely used in marine engines, RVs, industrial equipment, and other water-handling systems because they can self-adjust during startup. Their simple design makes installation more forgiving while still providing reliable pumping performance. No copyright infringement intended. Content is shared for educational purposes only.
