Enugu Uber wants 150% EXTRA

For me it is not about the $4 USD! 🤔 Well… this got uncomfortable pretty quickly. 😬🇳🇬 I ordered an Uber to the airport in Enugu and paid the price shown in the app by card: 4,000 naira. Everything was completely normal until we arrived. Suddenly the driver told me the ride should actually cost 10,000 naira and wanted another 6,000 in cash. That’s 150% extra on top of the Uber price I had already paid. His argument was that 4,000 naira was too little, it barely covered the fuel and that 10,000 was the normal price to the airport. I understand his frustration if Uber’s fares are too low, but I also don’t think that should become the passenger’s problem after the ride. I ordered through Uber, accepted the price Uber gave me and paid it before we even left. If you think the fare is too low, why accept the ride in the first place? Definitely an awkward discussion to have after arriving at the airport. 😬🇳🇬 Ended up giving him 4,000 naira extra but told him it was a disappointing practice. Guess what I still gave him 5 stars and no I didn’t report him. I told him clearly how I felt about it and I wish him a good day. End good, all good.
