Why it worked

The video uses a relatable, humorous premise about a niche interest (spreadsheets) to create a funny and engaging narrative. The unexpected connection between liking someone and showing them spreadsheets is what makes it shareable.

Summary

The creator humorously suggests that if someone doesn't show you spreadsheets, formulas, and pivot tables, they likely don't like you. This is presented as a humorous take on dating and professional interests.

Structure

1Questioning if he likes you
2Asking about spreadsheets
3Listing formulas and functions
4Mentioning pivot tables
5Concluding he doesn't like you

Product placement

Patagonia (vest): merely APPEARS. Removing it would not change what happens in the video.

Transcript

So you think he likes you? Has he tried walking you through a spreadsheet that he made that he thought was really cool? He hasn't? He didn't walk you through all the formulas, the lookups, the index matches, the if statements? He didn't show you the pivot table? That guy doesn't like you.
