Why do some girls get 'married to the Quran' in Pakistan, the truth behind 'Haq Bakshish'

Imagine being a young girl and dreaming of getting married but never being able to get married because your parents have married you to the Quran. I'm talking about Haq Bakshish, which is a practice that takes place in rural Sindh in Pakistan. And I'm raising awareness for women's lives that have literally been destroyed by this practice. I posted about Pakistani women's issues all the time, so make sure you follow me if you're not already. So even though this sounds like very religious, like, you're getting your daughter married to the Quran, so it seems like it's a religious practice. The reason that families actually do this in Pakistan is much more sinister. The main reason that people get their daughters married to the Quran is because of the property inheritance laws in Pakistan. By marrying their daughter to the Quran, they can keep better control over their property or the inheritance that the girl will get. Because she doesn't actually have like a real husband. In cases where Haq Bakshish actually takes place, women are prevented from marrying altogether and they're just given the Quran and told to religiously study for the rest of their life. There are also other motivations that families have for getting their daughters married to the Quran, including if she wants to marry somebody who is socially unacceptable, e.g. of like a lower caste or like a lower status, or in general just maintaining control over who she can marry. This is a cultural practice. It has nothing to do with Islam. In fact, Islam gives women rights to marry and to inherit property. And their ability to inherit property and their autonomy over their own life. I just think it's so disgusting that people are pedaling the Quran and using marriage to the Quran as a way to take away women's rights in Pakistan. I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on this.
