How we adopted our son through foster care

I went home, told my wife about it, and said that we should become foster parents immediately. She agreed. That night, we put our call into the state. August 2024. August 2024 - The Application. We were assigned a social worker who came to our home to do home inspections, background checks, fingerprints, and so much more. It felt like endless paperwork. **Yes including financial history. From September through November, September - November 2024 Foster Parent Training Classes. Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we attended foster parent training classes. From December to February, December 2024 - February 2025 Home Study! We moved to the home study process. This is when our social worker dove deep within ourselves, our marriage, our home, **Yes, room must be set up before child is placed and the kind of foster parents that we would eventually become. **Yes, room must be set up before child is placed. Finally, in March 2025, March 2025 Call that changed our LIVES!! We got the call for our baby boy, who's currently in the living room with his other mom eating waffles. After months of waiting on paperwork and red tape, November 2025 ADOPTION. We finally got to officially adopt him. That second pillar, the family pillar, is so important to me because there are so many ways to make, start, and be a family. Foster care and adoption is just how we began ours.
