Is Big Is Big 4 worth the trauma I worked in big 4 for almost a year as an audit analyst, so here's my honest take. Let's start with the good. The biggest advantage is that you can start your career there from zero. They hire people with little to no experience, sometimes even without a relevant degree, and they teach you A LOT You learn how to communicate with different people, how to work in a corporate environment, manage your time, work under pressure, deal with clients, and so many other skills. You also meet so many amazing people and build connections that can stay with you long after you leave. But now the bad part. The pay is pretty low compared to the amount of work and responsibility you have. Overtime is basically part of the culture, and you can easily end up working 10 - 12 hours a day. And you're expected to do a lot when you literally know nothing. You get a task you've never done before and basically have to figure it out yourself. Basically, they throw you into the deep end and expect you to learn how to swim. But honestly, that's also how you learn fast. So do I regret it? No. For someone starting with zero experience Big 4 was an amazing learning environment. I learnt an insane amount in a very short period of time, mostly because I had no choice but to learn. But would I stay long term? Probably not. I think Big 4 is an amazing launchpad, but not the destination. I'd rather take everything I learned there and move somewhere with better work-life balance, because I don't want my career to mean spending 12 hours a day at work.
