Here's why we started a ski pole company. I'm Christina and this is my best friend Kelly. I'm Christina and this is my best friend Kelly. A few years ago on a ski trip, I got really fed up with how annoying ski poles were to carry and how ugly they were. So I texted the smartest person I know, to see if he wanted to help me redesign them using magnets. We started making prototypes in his garage and travelled to visit suppliers to bring the product to life. In late 2023, we launched the company while working our full time jobs. Kelly was a product designer at Apple and I worked in venture capital. After we launched, Shark Tank reached out to us, which is probably an entirely separate video, but we landed a deal with Kendra Scott which allowed us to keep redesigning overlooked products like tote bags, trekking poles, and now a full collection of apparel. The name Yardsale is an old ski term for when you wipe out, lose all your gear, and the result resembles a yard sale on the mountain. Though we started as a ski brand, we now design gear for all of your days outside. We just opened up our flagship store and coffee shop in Cole Valley inside of an old pharmacy.
