✨ Nursing school survival series Day 2: the biggest mistakes students make in the first two weeks✨

Hey y'all. Morning, Shana, and I'm a nursing instructor and I'm doing a series on nursing school survival. Day two, and we're going to be talking about the biggest mistakes that I see students make in the first two weeks. As a nursing instructor, I see several common mistakes every single semester that put students a little bit behind and makes it harder for them to catch up. So the first thing is going to be not planning and writing everything out in the first couple of days because if you don't prep and plan appropriately, you're going to fall behind. So make sure in the first couple of days, you're writing everything out in your planner. My second thing that I see quite often is that students wait to ask for help. So say your first exam is in the first two weeks, right? You don't do well on it, and then you don't reach out to your instructor or you don't ask for help or you don't seek out some kind of assistance immediately, guys, whenever you don't do as well as you want to or you just have questions, don't be scared to reach out to your instructor, okay? That's what we're here for. So don't wait and wait because you're going to fall further and further behind. Another thing that I see students make mistakes with sometimes is that they get so overwhelmed that they don't do anything. So they just get bogged down with assignments and readings and they just get paralyzed with fear and they don't do anything at all. And so then, of course, they're going to fall behind. What I will say with that is you have to start with something. If you are completely frozen and you're like, I don't even know where to start or what to do, pick one thing and just start it, okay? Because you can't sit there paralyzed or reach out to a friend or reach out to an instructor and ask, I'm overwhelmed. What is the priority? What should I do first? So that we can at least start with something. Instead of sitting there and doing nothing at all. So those are the biggest three mistakes that I see students make. So don't do those things if you can help it. Reach out to your instructor if you need help. Um, or whoever you're comfortable with. If you know somebody that's been through the program or knows somebody in the program already and have made friends, reach out to somebody and ask for help. Um, so that you can get on the right track and not fall too far behind. Um, tomorrow we're going to be talking about nursing school vocabulary that nobody explains and we just expect you to know.
