It's been over 2 years now since a parent fired me as a counselor
(But I recently heard from the student)
Reliving you of your duties
Hi Brandon, You never took down your posts

Hi Brandon, showed us your TikTok post
2 years ago I got this email
Reliving you of your duties
To: Brandon
Hi Brandon,
showed us your TikTok post from earlier
today and I must say I am disappointed. You are a
college counselor, and as your clients, we are not
interested in your political opinions.
In addition, after seeing your post I decided to
read through 's essay drafts and found there
is a huge emphasis on liberal concepts such as
community and equality that do not reflect our
family's values. While we mean well for others, we
are not interested in highlighting these as goals.
I would like to relieve you of your duties working
with because I do not want her exposed to
your political opinions. I know you have put in
countless hours even outside of session time to
help her in the last few months and for that I am
thankful, so there is no need to issue a refund for
the remainder of the package we purchased. I
anticipate that with opinions like the one you
shared today online, you may end up needing the
funds more than our family.
Best of luck.

Good afternoon
I replied and shared the redacted email exchange
online (while offering the spot to FGLI students)
Thank you for your message. I hope you will keep
in mind that the ideals you do not want to highlight
are the exact ones that top colleges are looking
for. Furthermore, I believe sharing my beliefs on
my own page without imposing them on any of the
students I work with is perfectly fine, but I
understand you feel differently.
Nevertheless, please find the attached parental
release form to dissolve our working relationship.
Thanks, and I wish you and the best of luck
on the rest of the college admissions process.
Best,
Brandon

Then I got this email..
Hi Brandon,
Many students at 's school know she was
working with you but now is seeking a new
counselor. These same people also follow you and
may put two and two together after they have been
sharing the email thread. This makes feel
bad. If you care about 's feelings, please take
down the screenshots of what I said in my initial
email. I wanted to also clarify that our family
does value community and equality, however these are
not the values we want to highlight in her essays.
They do not feel authentic to all the leadership
positions and awards could talk about
instead.
I would appreciate it if you please take the post
down.

And I replied...
Hello
I'm sorry to hear about the situation that your
email has put in. Unfortunately, it would not
feel authentic to me nor my page if I took down a
post that highlights the importance of picking your
words carefully and being a respectful person.
Rest assured, I would never share your name nor
's name (given the confidentiality agreement
mentioned in the form you signed several months
ago when I first started working with ), but I
cannot control what information shares with
others nor how you now feel about your previous
email.
Also, as per the release form you signed and sent
me back earlier this week, our working relationship
has been dissolved. Keeping that in mind, there's
no reason to email me again as I do not have the
bandwidth to reply further. Good luck to you and
on the rest of the college application
process.
Best,
Brandon
This was my last exchange
with the parent last year
3/9/25
Hi Brandon,
You never took down your posts which left us
deeply disappointed in your professionalism, however we wanted to share that was
admitted to Georgetown in the early action round.
We have gratitude for your help with her essays for
Georgetown even though we did work to update
them after reliving you.
Additionally, did you see that the federal
prosecutor in DC said he won't hire any students
from Georgetown who support diversity and
inclusion? Given is pre law we are happy that
we took a stance on omitting liberal concepts
related to community and equality that do not
reflect our family's values from her essays early
on. We know you do support these kind of liberal
concepts but hope now you can see this would've
hindered her chances of obtaining an internship
during her time at Georgetown.
Finally, we'd like to let you know that when
applies for internships she will be writing about
this exchange and your original post.
Good luck.
Few months ago I heard
from the student! After
our chat I took a look at
