AP Lang 2026 Score Distribution

The 2026 score distribution for AP English Language is finally here. Now, last year was the first year where we saw the pass rate for this exam exceed 70%. Up until just two years ago, the pass rate was a lot closer to 55% or 56%. Last year I heard a lot of students speculating that maybe College Board had wiggled the threshold for what was a 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 because of the author of the look at me passage who claimed that her passages were used without her consent and that she didn't even agree with the answers that were chosen. However, that is actually not what happened. Back in 2021, there was a standard that was set by College Board for what is considered a pass rate, and that standard took in input from 15 different professors. However, they decided to recalibrate what is considered a pass rate, taking in input from 773 professors across 524 colleges. Final two things I want to point out about this exam. I do think that AP English Lang is one of those classes that is really, really hard if you don't have a teacher who is actually following the AP English Language curriculum. And number two, I think this exam is very, are not a native English speaker. And number two, I think this exam is very challenging if you are not a native English speaker.
