incoming freshman, here's some things to expect for your college classes or at least in my experience. First day of classes is in like a week, so let's talk about it because I went in with the expectation that every class was going to be laid back, I could do what I want. The best part about college classes is honestly being able to step out if you need to getting water going to the bathroom, I've even accepted phone calls. On the topic of phones, all big lectures allow them, but some small classes will not. And if a class doesn't require attendance, I recommend going because the professor is going to give you information that he will test you on specifically to see who was there and paying attention. Great my professor is your best friend. You can have someone in these same exact classes as you, but different professors and have a totally different experience. You don't want yours to be the negative one. Now that you're on your own, it's important to try a few different note taking methods to figure out the best way to stay engaged in class and use the information later on. I had one professor give us guided notes, but that's very rare. Stay organized. Your professors are not going to remind you of due dates. They might not even remind you of exams. So make sure you have those all written down. After you have all of your syllabus, just write down your exam schedule immediately. You're going to be stick more than you're not. So bring tissues. You don't want to be that nasty kid that's sniffling the entire lecture. Try and be five to 10 minutes early to every single class. Don't be like me, always running late. If you are though, they will accept you. It's just really embarrassing. You do not want a full 200 people lecture hall to turn around and look at you. Oh my. That's all I can think of for right now.
