I LOVE THAT SAYING

I love that saying. Give a woman a fish and you feed her for a day. Teach her to fish and you feed her for a lifetime. So I gave a woman a fish. She loved it. She said, this is how a woman should be treated. The next day she asked for another fish. I said, why don't I teach you how to fish? She said, I already know how to fish. I'm an independent woman. I said, great. So could you catch dinner tonight? She said, fishing feels very masculine to me. I'd rather you do it. It's more romantic. I said, okay. But sometimes I'd also like someone to give me a fish. She said, wow. So now everything has to be 50/50. I said, no. I just like to receive a fish occasionally. She said, a real man doesn't keep score. I said, I'm not keeping score. I've been fishing for six months. She said, I thought you enjoyed fishing. I said, I do. I just don't enjoy being the only fisherman in the relationship. Then she explained that she brings other things to the relationship. I asked, like what? She said, I bring peace. Which was interesting because we'd been arguing about fish for 45 minutes. Eventually I stopped bringing her fish. She said, you've changed. In the beginning, you used to make an effort. So we broke up. Now she tells people I was controlling, transactional, and only did the bare minimum. She even gave her next boyfriend the fishing rod I bought her anyway. I'm 51, single, and eating chicken. I don't even like fish.
