This homeowner was another victim of the... 5 hours-$600 "deep cleaning" scam! She had just bought a house that hadn't been properly deep cleaned in YEARS! and she wanted everything done before moving in! So! She called us for a quote After hearing about the condition of the house and everything she wanted cleaned... we quoted her just under "$15,000?!" that's way too expensive!" and honestly I understand why she thought that! But after spending the last 10 years deep cleaning homes I already knew how much work this house was going to take! Instead, she found another company that promised to clean the entire house in just 5 hours for $600! It sounded like a much better deal! So she hired them! A few hours after they finish... She started looking around more closely and noticed the blinds were still covered in dust! That's when she called us back... but once we walked through the house... We realized the dusty blinds were actually the smallest problem! The stovetop grates were still covered in hardened grease and burnt-on food! So! We removed every piece... degreased and scrubbed them individually! Then cleaned everything underneath the stovetop! Then we opened the dishwasher there was still old food... built up inside the filter and packed into the corners! We removed the parts we could scrubbed everything... cleaned the filter... and detailed the entire interior! The kitchen sink still had grime and mineral build up around the drain and edges! It took us over 1 hour to make it PRISTINE! Now the bathroom! The sink drain was covered in mold and this gold faucet was covered in water spots and mineral deposits! with finishes like this... you can't just attack them with harsh chemicals! We had to work slowly and carefully so we could remove the build up without damaging the finish! Then we looked up! The bathroom exhaust fan was packed with dust! Instead of just wiping the outside we removed the cover and cleaned the entire inside with straw brushes! For the windows all through the house We did not only clean the glass but after disassembling the tracks... we found dust and debris buildup we had to scrub and steam clean! the dirt was embedded deep inside the textured stone flooring! A regular mop wasn't going to do much! So we steam cleaned it to pull YEARS of dirt out of the stone and we did the same thing throughout the rest of the house! We didn't just run a mop over the floors... we steam-mopped everything! That's when the difference became very clear! The first company didn't deep clean the house they cleaned around the dirt! and after doing this for 10 years I've learned that... that is where a lot of homeowners get fooled! Most companies aren't going to leave your house looking completely filthy! They will wipe the counters... mop the floors... clean the obvious areas... and make everything look better! The problem is when they call that a "deep clean"! Because there is simply no way to properly deep clean a house like this in 5 hours! A real deep clean can take you're removing stove top parts cleaning inside appliances detailing sinks and faucets steam cleaning floors and getting into all the little areas that haven't been properly touched in years! That's what takes the time the cheapest deep clean... ends up being the most expensive mistake!
