Here are the top five North Carolina. At number five, we have Dennis Gillings at $2.2 billion. He's the founder and CEO of Quintiles, which is now IQVIA, one of the biggest CROs in the area, clinical research organizations. He's originally from England, but he came to UNC Chapel Hill as a biostatistics professor. He's now based in Durham. At number four, we have Carroll II in Greensboro, worth $2.6 billion. So he made his fortune in real estate development. He's well known for his conservative real estate approach with low leverage deals and long-term holds. It is good to see the triad represented. At number three, we have Tim Sweeney at $5.1 billion. Sweeney is the founder and CEO of Epic Games, which makes Fortnite and he made his fortune developing the Unreal Engine, the 3D graphics engine behind video games, movies, and a bunch of other industries. He's originally from Maryland, but he's in Cary, NC. And at number two, we have John Sall at $6.5 billion. Sall is the co-founder of SAS, the analytics company, and he's originally from Illinois, but he came to NC State to study statistics, which is where he met his co-founder of SAS, Jim Goodnight. And he's based in Cary. And at number one, we have Jim Goodnight at more than $13 billion. He co-founded SAS with Sall. Goodnight is originally from Salisbury, NC, but he went to NC State to study statistics. He's also known for his real estate development. Basically, he developed all of Cary alongside local landowners, and he founded Cary Academy with Sall. So we have three of the five richest people in Cary, one in Greensboro, one in Durham, and two are NC State graduates, which proves that the Wolfpack who builds the state of North Carolina.
