There's something really special about travelling solo. 🤍 #KOAPartner @Kampgrounds of America You get to move at your own pace, change your plans whenever you want, and spend the day doing exactly what makes you happy. For this trip, I used the 1000 Islands/Mallorytown KOA Holiday as my home base while exploring one of my favourite regions in Ontario. I even got to experience RV travel for the very first time! 🚐 Over the course of a few days, I joined a guided kayaking tour through the Thousand Islands. One of my favorite things about traveling solo is that I get to explore completely at my own pace. And fact, before planning this trip, I had no idea that KOA campgrounds offered more than just campsites. Many locations you can also rent accommodations like RVs and cabins, so it's a great camping experience without owning any gear. I started the morning with my coffee in my RV and then joined a kayaking tour. Kayaking tour on a guided kayaking tour is such a great option because you get to experience the islands from the water while paddling with a guide who knows the area. Next, I headed to Landon Bay. It's a short, incredible hike over the St. Lawrence River and it's one of my favorite spots in the region. Then I wrapped up the afternoon with a classic Thousand Islands Cruise. Seeing the islands, the castles, the cottages from the water gives a different perspective on the area. And after a full day of exploring, I headed back at the RV at KOA. I fired up the barbecue and enjoyed a dinner outside. And ended the evening around the campfire with roasting marshmallows, of course, knowing that I had a home base back that was easy to come back to every evening made this solo travel easy on the adventure instead of the logistics. So if you've been thinking about taking your first solo getaway, let this be your sign.
