Three hills I will die on as an intellectual omnivore... Three hills I'll die on as an intellectual omnivore. First, Mount Everest. It's the tallest mountain above sea level. There's barely any oxygen and I'm 51 years old. My lower back has opinions. I nearly injure myself putting a fitted sheet on my bed. So if I climbed Mount Everest, I would absolutely die on that hill. The second hill I'll die on as an intellectual omnivore is Mount Stupid. That's a peak people draw on the Dunning-Kruger curve. It's where you learn three facts about quantum physics and suddenly feel qualified to correct Einstein. I visited Mount Stupid many times. The views are incredible. Just don't buy a house there. The third hill I'll die on as an intellectual omnivore is that your curiosity does not need to make sense to anyone else. You're allowed to care about psychology, Korean words, ancient civilization, octopus intelligence, Roman concrete, and whether a straw has one hole or two. That isn't a scattered mind. That's range. You don't need one subject to belong to. Curiosity can be the thing you belong to. And the right people won't ask you to shrink your mind into one respectable little box. They'll follow you down the rabbit hole. So if you followed me from Mount Everest to Mount Stupid to straw holes, you might be one of us. And if you've been looking for those people, that's why I created The Omnivore Club. Link in bio.
