Scientists want to use a DMT machine elf as an interdimensional dead drop. When people take a high dose of DMT, they often report entering another world and meeting intelligent beings that seem completely autonomous. Machine elves, mantis surgeons, interdimensional jesters, and apparently one extremely supportive jellyfish. Scientists call these elaborate hallucinations. But researchers have proposed a way to actually test that. They would use something called DMTX, an intravenous infusion that extends the DMT state long enough to perform experiments inside it. Person 1 receives a secret four-digit code. Let's say 8472. They enter the DMT realm, find Trevor the machine elf and say, Trevor, remember 8472. Then Person 2, completely isolated from the first, enters the DMT realm, finds the same entity and asks for the number. That makes Trevor a fucking interdimensional dead drop. There's just one logistical problem. You have to find Trevor. You can't give the nuclear codes to Trevor, the machine elf, and then ask Kevin, the mantis surgeon, where he put them. Kevin doesn't know shit. Kevin works in surgery. And don't ask the interdimensional jester. That motherfucker is absolutely changing the number. Then there's Linda, the supportive jellyfish. Linda will hold space for you, but Linda doesn't technically have a brain. She forgot the number while you were saying it. That's why the researchers want participants who claim to meet the same entity repeatedly. Because if Person 2 comes back with 8472, then something inside one person's hallucination just passed a message into another person's mind, which means either telepathy is real or Trevor is.
