I call this a “see what happens” goal. Understand what it takes to get what you want and commit to doing it for a set amount of time. And then see what happens. Focus on the output, not the outcome. This is the exact mindset that helped me grow almost 100k followers across platforms in 7 months. I didn’t say “my goal is to get 10k followers by the end of the year” I said “my goal is to post once a day for a year and see what happens” Because of that, I didn’t freak out when I had hardly grown at all after 3 months. I kept my head down and continued on to fulfill my output-based goal. And when I suddenly did surpass 10k during month 4 (which I thought would be my EOY results), I kept going because I still hadn’t fulfilled my output-based goal. Now the account is bigger than I ever thought it would get, and it’s because I put all my focus on the output. Progress isn’t linear. Too much focus on the outcome will make you want to give up when things get hard.
