If it's 2PM right now and you're watching this video and like I already wasted my whole day and I haven't done shit. I'm about to show you the reset list. When I feel like I've already wasted my entire day and I might as well throw away the rest because we're not doing that. Welcome back to a day two of being depressed and disciplined. I'm going to teach you a skill that I have called recovery that really helps me when I feel like the rest of my day is just in shambles. Recovery isn't recovering the hours that you lost doom scrolling or not being productive. Recovery is recovering control over your own narrative for the next hour and that day so you can at least get some stuff done. First, you got to understand you are no longer making the original plan. You're not going to fit what you thought you were going to put in 9 to 5 to your 2 to 5. That's going to stress you out, burn you out, and never make you want to be disciplined. You got to pick your consequence task. Not that you're punishing yourself, but the consequence task that if you don't do it today, it is going to be worse and bigger tomorrow. That's an assignment that's due. Pick one maintenance task. I always tend to gravitate more towards self-care, so whether that's taking a shower, cleaning out the trash, or putting in a small load of laundry. Something that makes you feel accomplished and is just everyday maintenance. This really changed my life and my finances and the system that I built for myself. I have picked one maintenance task. I've picked one consequence task. I've picked one future me task. Try and think of what is something I can do tomorrow for my schedule that will make tomorrow's life 10% easier. The way I can take that 10% off my plate. Can I charge my phone? Can I look over my class notes? Can I write one priority down for tomorrow? Can I pick out my clothes? Pack my gym bag? My work bag? Can I just do one small task for myself tomorrow? I feel like I'm setting myself up for success. I already failed today, even though that's not true. Stop. Pick your consequence task, you picked your maintenance task, and you did something for future me. Anything else you do that day is extra credit because we're not deeming a day bad by shaming and guilt on ourselves that will lead to more depression and burnout. Discipline isn't never wasting half the day. Discipline is learning how quickly you can come back. Tomorrow in our depression discipline series, I'm going to go over what to do when the factor isn't time, but you just genuinely don't know where to start. So make sure to give me a follow to help my full system and buy my class. It's a little less than 100 spots left. So make sure you join before it's closed off. I love you bestie.
