Why it worked

The video uses a stitch format to juxtapose a seemingly negative HOA discussion with a positive and empowering message about literacy, creating a humorous and relatable contrast that resonates with book lovers and advocates for community resources.

Summary

A woman discusses the perceived negative implications of Little Free Libraries in an HOA meeting, suggesting they are used for reconnaissance rather than promoting literacy. The video then cuts to a woman wearing a sweatshirt that says "ZONED FOR SPONTANEOUS PUBLIC LITERACY," seemingly in response to the previous statement.

Structure

1HOA member questions the purpose of Little Free Libraries
2Woman argues they are used for reconnaissance, not literacy
3Woman questions zoning for 'spontaneous public literacy'
4Cut to woman wearing 'ZONED FOR SPONTANEOUS PUBLIC LITERACY' sweatshirt
5Woman playfully shows off the sweatshirt

Original caption

If public literacy is a crime, go ahead and lock me up. I'm proudly running a rogue literacy operation every day. Free little libraries are a gift to the community that supports sharing, literacy, and joy. The only reconnaissance happening is appreciation for the beautiful spaces we create in our communities. Will you be participating in some spontaneous public literacy today? Thank you to @Wayward Gifts for making my new favorite shirt! #littlefreelibrary #neighborhoodwatch #community #publicmenace #literacy
