Maple walnut ice cream tastes even better homemade 🍁🍨 This creamy homemade ice cream by @Lisa Thompson is made with pure maple syrup + toasted walnuts for the perfect late-summer-meets-fall dessert. Get the details below and at the link in bio. INGREDIENTS: 2 cups whole milk 2 cups heavy cream 1 cup pure maple syrup Flaky sea salt, to taste 2/3 cup toasted walnuts, chopped RECIPE: 1. Freeze the bowl of your ice cream machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions, if necessary (some require 16+ hours). 2. Heat the maple syrup, cream, and milk in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until it reaches a light simmer. Remove from the heat. 3. Slowly temper half of the hot cream mixture into the egg yolks, adding just a few teaspoons at a time and whisking constantly. (This warms the egg yolks gently and keeps them from scrambling.) 4. Stir the tempered egg mixture back into the rest of the hot cream, then return to medium heat, stirring slowly but constantly, until it reaches 180ºF. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature (stirring over an ice bath is the fastest). 5. Cover and chill the ice cream base for at least 5 hours and up to overnight. 6. Add the cold ice cream base to the bowl of your ice cream machine and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the ice cream is nice and thick, add the chopped walnuts. 7. Serve the ice cream immediately for a soft serve consistency or transfer to an airtight container and freeze until ready to serve. #feedfeed #icecream #homemadeicecream #fallrecipes
