who here has been here from the beginning? I can't believe it's been an entire year since we started on Melinda's removal of 20 years of black box color. I'm really proud of where we have gotten to in just a year, and can't wait to continue sharing this journey with you guys :) what did this series teach you? I'd love to know in the comments! #lifeoflisag It started with three rounds of Malibu CPR and color stripper. I did all of this in one day. And the very next day, she came back. She actually started to lighten the process. This is where I'm identifying where her hair actually lifted to. We did a full bleach out and then realized that she was having a reaction and had to stop. We were both a little bummed with this one, but we did everything I could to keep her hair intact. I had her come back six weeks later because she wanted to be light for her son's wedding. And we nailed it. We did a lot of time in between to give her hair a break. This session, I didn't feel like she was ready for lightener, so I just did her root and then I did a full lightening session and then blend her root again. I stopped using permanent color at this point. She started lifting pretty well, so I was super hopeful. It looked and felt fantastic, but when she came back, well, that one part that broke when she had the reaction broke even more. And so disappointment was to cut that off, even it out. As you can see here, color also was still pretty brassy. A lot of that black is still coming out of her hair. But the blend started to happen. It looked fantastic. I was super happy with how that demi worked. This is how she came out. However, I didn't put a demi glaze on her root. I was just kind of pushing the boundaries. And then I got a text a few days later asking if she could get her roots covered up. I did go back in and just did a demi blend and we were loving what this did. Now we know exactly what we need to do. Here she is again. Do a demi blend and some highlights to just continue to break all this up. This is a full year's worth of growth. She's taken meticulous care of her hair. And here she is now. She looks 10 years younger. Her hair is in pristine condition. We are getting even closer to her being fully gray blended. Don't worry, this journey is not going to end. I'm still going to update you guys. But I cannot believe where her hair is just a year later. And here she is again.
