The Pioneer Woman basically taught newlywed me how to cook. And all these years + 4 kids later, I’m still making her sausage gravy. Some recipes just stick with you. When my husband and I first got married, I genuinely looked forward to deciding what I was going to make for dinner every single day. Like, that was my activity. Apparently, I had all the time in the world back then. I had nobody's practice to get to, and certainly not four kids asking me what was for dinner. And I lived on the Pioneer Woman's blog. I was constantly scrolling through Ree's recipes, picking something to make and spending my whole afternoon cooking it. Which, honestly, feels like a completely different lifetime now. Anyway, this gravy is just one of those things that stuck around. It's just sausage, flour, milk, and some seasoning. And the biggest thing is adding your milk a little at a time and letting everything thicken up. Season with Lawry's, black pepper, thyme or sage, to taste. Salt, to taste. Biscuits (for serving). Make it yours! Use thyme, sage or both. Adjust the seasoning to your taste! Britt's Kitchen. Minimum Effort. Maximum Taste. Seriously, shout out to Ree. My original muse, an icon, an legend. She will always be the standard for food and recipes. And this recipe will always be in my family's dinner rotation. Just with a whole lot less time to leisurely browse a blog all afternoon. I remember when her TV show came out, I was so excited to watch her instead of reading her blog. So seriously, shout out to Ree. My original muse, an icon, an legend.
