I used to get mad when my husband wrestled our boys before bed. I thought he was winding them up. But some ADHD kids need movement before they can settle. Wrestling, pushing, and pulling give the muscles and joints strong sensory input. For some children, that input helps their body move from high energy toward rest. When my son bounces at bedtime, he isn’t being defiant. His body may be searching for the input it needs to settle. Save this for your next hard bedtime. Send it to a parent who keeps saying, “Just calm down.” Follow @modernmomuniversity for practical ADHD and sensory strategies.
