“Udah ah, nggak usah terlalu di-Inggris-inggrisin, toh kita ngajar di sekolah Indonesia.” Well, yes, we teach Indonesian students. But I still believe that as English teachers, we need to keep working on our English. Not because we have to sound like native speakers, but because being more comfortable with the language helps us feel more confident when we teach, interact, give instructions, explain things, and communicate with our students. And honestly, I think this is something we should keep pushing ourselves to do. Kalau kita ingin students terus berkembang, masa kita berhenti belajar? Improving our English is not only about improving our language skills. It also helps us become more confident in the classroom and build better interactions with our students.
