Before they became Transformers, these five designs began in Japan as Takara’s Diaclone Dinosaur Robo toys. They were originally machines built for tiny human pilots, and traces of those cockpits still remain in the G1 figures. Hasbro removed the pilots and gave us Grimlock, Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop.
