We had to remove him from the programme after he breached our community guidelines. What makes this situation important is that, at the time he was posting content suggesting Breaking Into Tech had provided him with nothing he didn’t already know, he was still actively inside the programme and using our support, materials and coaching. He had previously thanked the team for the guidance, said the cold outreach and networking strategies were starting to work, used our interview modules to prepare for roles, sent over his optimised CV and asked for referrals. So this wasn’t a case of somebody leaving because the programme had given them no value. He was removed after breaching the rules of the community. We’re genuinely happy to see students succeed, but using the knowledge, frameworks and support you accessed as a student while simultaneously presenting the story as though you did everything independently is a very different situation. There are always two sides to a story, and in this case, there are receipts.

We had to kick a student out of our community for breaking community guidelines. I'm pretty sure you guys have seen a few videos circling around online, so I just thought let's clear everything up. What makes this particular student had was that he knows everything that we teach because he managed to get to the final stages of an interview by himself. But what has us scratching our heads and for a lot of other people who have contacted me is why would you invest in such a program? And I guess if someone who genuinely knows everything and doesn't believe that anybody else could add value, then why did you still want to stay? Why did you still continue through and attend these coaching calls and coaching sessions? If you knew everything, what makes this whole thing extremely serious is that he's been very direct and said that he wants to create a competing business against us after two years of landing his role. And in his contract that he signed, it is very clear that he cannot start a competing business for after two years of landing his role. But if you've never worked in the industry before, you should not be coaching other people on how to succeed and how to land a role. Also, bear in mind, we've been very calm about the situation and we've advised him that he actually needs to gain experience himself in the industry before he starts trying to promote his own services and we've already had a few people message us saying that they've been approached for his coaching. Just be careful who you trust online because there is a very big difference in learning something and then having the experience and the ability to teach it. And in his contract that he signed, it is very clear that he cannot start a competing business for after two years of landing his role.
