Thailand is an incredible place to travel, but knowing a few things BEFORE you land can save you time, money, and a lot of unnecessary stress. 1. Always carry some cash. 💵 Cards are widely accepted in many places, but street food stalls, markets, smaller restaurants and local businesses may still prefer or require cash. Don’t rely 100% on your card. 2. Download Grab before you arrive. 🚕 You’ll use it for rides, food delivery and more. In Bangkok, learn how to use the BTS and MRT too. Sometimes taking the train will save you a LOT of time sitting in traffic. 3. Don’t try to see the entire country in 10 days. 🗺️ Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi AND Samui sounds amazing until half your holiday is spent checking out of hotels, sitting in airports and catching ferries. Pick fewer places and actually enjoy them. 4. Check the weather for the REGION you’re visiting. 🌧️ Thailand doesn’t have one identical rainy season everywhere. Conditions can be very different depending on whether you’re visiting Bangkok, the Andaman coast, the Gulf islands or Northern Thailand. 5. Pack something appropriate for temples. 🙏 Some temples and religious sites have dress requirements, so having something that covers your shoulders and knees can save you trouble. Always follow the rules posted at each location. 6. Get a SIM or eSIM with data. 📱 You’ll constantly use your phone for Google Maps, Grab, translations, hotel bookings and checking opening hours. Having internet from the moment you arrive makes everything easier. 7. Don’t drink straight from the tap. 💧 Stick to bottled or properly filtered drinking water. Bottled water is inexpensive and extremely easy to find. 8. Learn at least TWO Thai phrases. 🇹🇭 Sawasdee kráp/kha = Hello 👋 Khop khun kráp/kha = Thank you 🙏 You don’t need to speak Thai, but making even a small effort goes a long way. 9. Give yourself breathing room between connections. ✈️ A one-hour flight doesn’t mean you only lose one hour. Add hotel checkout, airport transfers, check-in, baggage, ferries and possible weather or traffic delays. Don’t make your itinerary unnecessarily stressful. 10. Remember: you’re visiting someone else’s home. ❤️🇹🇭 Respect temples, local customs and the people around you. If you’re unsure about something, observe what locals are doing or simply ask. 📌 Save this before your Thailand trip and send it to the person you’re coming with. #thailand #thailandtravel #bangkok #thailandtips #travelthailand
