I have a problem. I learn languages too dang fast. Too fast. And tell me why some random 21 year old on the internet can speak five different languages and you're still stumbling to say uno means one, dos means dos, and cuatro means four. Like, come on. So I have found it my moral obligation to share with you the secret sauce and the methods I've been using to learn all the different languages that I am. Some quick context, my mom was a neurologist and she used to tell me about this guy named Stephen Krashen all the time. Now, who is Stephen Krashen, you may wonder? He's a guy who came with input hypothesis. He believed there are actually certain parts of your brain, such as the basal ganglia and procedural memory systems, that can actually absorb a whole new language. So forget about like memorizing 10,000 Spanish words. You don't need to do that. The concept that we'll call this today is called comprehensible input. It was actually popularized in the 1970s and has been scientifically proven to be the fastest way to learn a new language. And this is literally how I learned five different languages through this exact method. Specifically for Spanish, I use this through an app called Palteca that directly applies this concept through Spanish. When you go onto the app, you'll see like there's no AI, there's no translations. And for a lot of people, it'll be confusing at first, like, okay, no translations, how am I supposed to learn? Bruh, if you look at how comprehensible input is supposed to work, that is the whole point. Essentially, you're learning a whole new language the same way you first did when you were a baby. Completely from scratch. When you're a baby, you didn't have anything to translate to. So really, the same thing should apply when you're learning a brand new language at any age that you're not a baby. All that to say, do like, do comprehensible input, do it over time and through repetition. Eventually, it'll all start to click and you'll learn languages a lot faster, like I do.
