Hello everyone! In the previous video, I talked about which category of creative people I consider myself to be, and that my university teacher called me a draftsperson. Some people in the comments took this word as an insult. Partly, this is my fault, as I didn’t clarify in what context the word was used. The word “draftsperson,” in its general meaning, refers to a person who engages in drawing: creates drawings, works with graphic materials. This word can also denote both a professional and an amateur — someone who simply loves to draw and does so regularly. And I want to clarify that this was in no way an insult on the part of the teacher. For my part, I want to say that he is one of my favorite teachers, who inspires me with his work and his attitude towards his craft. He played a significant role in my education. In his lectures on grammar, I became acquainted with a printing technique — linocut. In distance learning, it was customary to familiarize oneself with this technique only theoretically. But that didn’t stop me from studying linocut in practice. I was so immersed in it that I even tried to make a cutting tool from available materials. I looked for analogues, as in 2019 it was difficult to find specialized tools and materials. Now, however, you can get all of this from various marketplaces without any effort. Back then, I spent quite a lot of time looking for stores, sellers, and delivery methods. When I was choosing a topic for my thesis, I decided to create a series of engravings dedicated to my hometown. In 2020, after graduating from university, I decided to create social media accounts related to linocut printing. After some time, I changed the theme of the accounts to traditional drawing, or rather, filling sketchbooks. Nowadays, I rarely carve anything, but this technique will forever remain my favorite art form. It turns out that the classes with my teacher led me to what I’m doing now. And I’m grateful for his role in my creative journey. So, the word “drawer” or “drawer woman” isn’t some kind of insult to me, and I wouldn’t advise you to take it in that context. The main thing is that you find your path, your passion, and enjoy the process! And finally, don’t forget to inspire and be inspired! Bye for now! #sketchbook #art #drawing #acrylicmarkers
