The Department of Justice says UCLA's law school broke the law in its admissions process. According to an investigation by the DOJ, the university discriminated against white and Asian American students by favoring Black and Hispanic applicants. The department also says admissions staff at the law school showed applicants during recruitment efforts how to reveal their race in essays. This has been reportedly happening since 2023, the year affirmative action became illegal. UCLA says it's committed to making admissions decisions in compliance with all applicable laws.
