Why it worked

The use of a character costume (the werewolf) creates a fun, thematic narrative that aligns perfectly with the Halloween holiday, making the product placement feel like part of a story rather than a standard commercial.

Summary

A creator dressed in a werewolf costume shops at Five Below for various Hershey's-branded Halloween candies to prepare for trick-or-treaters. The video showcases different candy varieties and packaging available at the store.

Structure

1Creator in costume enters Five Below
2Browsing and selecting Hershey's candy
3Checking out at the register
4Unboxing and displaying candy at home

Product placement

(a) Hershey's (candy brand) ACTS: the creator selects, displays, and pours various Hershey's-branded candy products (Reese's, Twizzlers, KitKat) into bowls for trick-or-treaters. (a) Five Below (retailer) ACTS: the creator visits the store, walks through the aisles, and shops for candy. Removing these would change the video entirely as it is a branded shopping haul.
