Why it worked

The video leverages a well-known, humorous viral audio clip that resonates with nostalgia and comedy, making it highly shareable.

Summary

A man calls into a radio show in the Dominican Republic to request a song he doesn't know the name of, singing the lyrics as "Are those Reebok or Nike?" The host eventually identifies the song as "The Rhythm of the Night" by Corona.

Structure

1Introduction of the iconic song request story
2The caller describes the song phonetically
3The radio host tries to identify the song
4The host plays the actual song
5The caller confirms it is the correct song

Product placement

Nike (appears as a logo, does not act); Reebok (appears as a logo, does not act). Removing these logos would not change the content of the video, as they are part of a meme image.

That radio host deserves a raise 😂 A man phoned into a live radio show in the Dominican Republic to request his favourite tune, except he had no idea what it was called or who made it. So he just sang what he thought the chorus was saying, asking the host to play the one that goes "¿Esos son Reebok o son Nike?" After some back and forth, the host figured it out. The caller had been phonetically interpreting "This is the rhythm of the night" by Corona, the 1993 Eurodance classic, and honestly the two sound almost identical when said quickly. The tune went straight on air and the caller shouted "¡Esa misma brother, esa misma es!" in celebration. 13 years on and it is still undefeated.
