Why it worked

The video leverages a classic, highly recognizable internet meme that features a sudden, humorous shift in tone, which encourages high rewatchability and engagement.

Summary

A viral clip from 2008 shows a young man complaining about a club's atmosphere and music during an interview. When asked about the specific song playing, he immediately begins dancing, revealing he actually enjoys the track.

Structure

1Introduction of the viral interview clip
2Man complains about the club and music
3Interviewer asks about the song playing
4Man starts dancing to the music

Product placement

Joonas Hahmo - Sound Of Sunday (a musical track) — it ACTS as it is the subject of the interview and triggers the subject's dance. Removing it would change the outcome of the video.

On-screen text

18 years ago, Russian local TV caught the most legendary interview of all time Not enough people, Madame! Hold on! Please tell us. What music is playing right now? Crappy music! To be honest, really bad music. So why did you come here? I was hoping it would be MUCH better.. all this. And the music is really bad! Like really bad music! I thought all this would be much better. I've been here so many times. It was much better. But this time bad luck. First, not enough people,... music not too good. And which style is this? Style? What "style"? Which style of music is playing right now? [Music: Joonas Hahmo - Sound Of Sunday]

The switch up is still undefeated 😂 Back in 2008, a young man named Dimitri was interviewed in a club by local Russian TV and spent the whole thing complaining about the crowd, the music and how the place better before. Then he gets asked what tune is playing, and everything changes. He immediately started dancing, realising he liked the song that was playing. 18 years later and it is still one of the most rewatchable clips on the entire internet.
