Okay, I'm calling this the four pillars of self-care that I would tell a client to consider on their day off so that their day off actually feels like a day off and doesn't feel like a day that just flew by and they got nothing that they wanted out of it. First pillar, we're going to start strong, something you don't want to do. So, I'm not talking about seeing a friend you don't want to see. I'm talking about a life admin task like paying a bill, putting petrol in the car, doing some washing, attending to something, going to the post office, something you really don't want to do, but you know you'll feel better after doing it. So yeah, maybe a bill, maybe something life adminy, checking some emails. Chances are that task itself probably isn't very big. It's probably quite small, but it's something that we tend to put off that we go, ugh, I don't want to do it. But at the end of that day off, you'll be so grateful you did it. The second thing, easy peasy movement. If you don't like movement, that's okay. Again, get it done probably earlier would be my suggestion. Have a stretch. We can do 10, 20 minutes. Just some sort of movement. Um, so much of our emotion regulation comes from movement. It can be a slow walk, bonus points if it's got a view. Just something that is just intentional with movement that you're going to feel better for. If you really struggle with movement, I say go have a walk around the shops. My third pillar is do something selfish, something indulgent, something that you wouldn't normally do on your day to day. Make a little bit of a point out of it. Maybe that's a massage, maybe that's a coffee and a muffin, maybe that's turning your phone off for the rest of the day. Do something that's a little bit out in the ordinary that you wouldn't do on your other days working, so that you get that little bit of like dopamine or a little bit of like, oh, this is nice. That's going to help you reset. That's going to make you look forward to your days off and it's going to make you feel like you got the most out of your days off. It can be something super little. It doesn't have to be expensive, and it can be something maybe, yeah, slightly more expensive, maybe you go get a facial or something like that. Whatever. This one maybe depends on your personality, but I'm going to say connection. Connect with someone in some way. Um, I think this always again makes us feel like we've got a good sense of connection, a good sense of what we did with our day, we caught up with someone. Sometimes that can feel really good. And if you're someone who struggles with that, often like that behavioral activation and practice stuff, so assessing how you feel before it, and then assessing how you feel again after it. If after it again you still don't, you feel worse, okay, wrong person, wrong situation. But a lot of the time we go, oh, I shouldn't have seen them in so long and then we catch up and we go, oh my god, I forgot how much I enjoyed spending time with that person. That can be a really good make of time. And again, it doesn't have to be a long time. It could be a phone call. I'm going to clean the kitchen while I call someone interstate for half an hour. Beautiful. I think if you can address those four pillars in some way, the rest of the day can literally be just rotting. It can be whatever, but I think that allows you to feel like there is some rest or rejuvenation. I do want to say though, if you're in a, if you're a nurse, if you're in a really high burnout work, these would probably be adjusted a little bit, because you might need a day of complete silence. So I do also understand that.
