Hook
So I just got home from a 6 day trip to a pet owner's like second worst nightmare. All my dogs are alive. So I won't say worst nightmare, cause obviously your dog passing would be the worst. But finding out that your dogs were locked in rooms, and their filth, that's up there, top three maybe. Especially when one of them has cancer and you're pretty sure they'd been left alone inappropriately for a week. I've had the same dog sitter for two years. She was great. We thought, no problems, never a problem really. Um, and we just got back from a trip to Ireland and she said, yeah, no problem. I just have class on Monday from like 10 to 3. And I said, great. I said, so you're. You're. You don't have class Thursday, Friday? She said, nope, no class Thursday, Friday, no work Saturday, Sunday she's here. And I thought, great, so that's four days. Monday she has class Tuesday we get home. When I tell you how badly my house smelled and still smells. I walked into my master bedroom and I had taken off my tennis shoes from the flight and I walked across my bedroom carpet and my feet became wet. Carpet soaked in pee. It smells like a kennel. Uh, I see piles of poop on the floor and I just kind of freak out. Uh, my husband comes upstairs and starts picking up poops. One of them was so Old and dry that it had started turning white. So that means, um, it had been there for the whole trip, like day one. She locked my dog in my room. I guess, um, supposed to be house sitting, not dog sitting. House sitting and dog sitting. Um, she doesn't even have to walk the dogs. We have a great backyard. All she has to do is open the back door and let them run around. We have a very comfortable living room. Got a nice big love sack, big 55 inch television. Have a guest room with a king bed for her that's all made up and lovely. The private bathroom for her. Cause there's like a, you know, extra bathroom in the hallway. All perfectly clean set up for her. Towels aren't touched. The towels aren't touched in the bathroom. How are the towels not touched in the bathroom if you lived here for the last week? Did you bring your own towels? Um, bed doesn't look like it's even been slept in. I mean, there's a little bit of dog hair on it or whatever, but it doesn't mean anything. Kitchen trash is empty for the most part. Just a little bit of trash in it. Um, there's like maybe one or two days worth of dishes that she cleaned and put so to make it look like she was here. I, I don't really know. I know she wasn't here enough. Um, and I know that One of my dogs is exhibiting signs of a U T I. Um, so what that says to me is my dogs were locked in the house, not attended, not given freshwater regularly, and not let outside. Because housebroken dogs don't just pee inside. They will hold it until it hurts. They will hold it until they have to go inside. So that's why they get U T I's, because they're holding it. So now I have to test all my dogs for U T I's. I know one of them for sure has U T I. I can smell it. Um, so I have to take at least one dog to the, to the vet. My hou- My bedroom smells so badly that every single item of clothing in my bedroom will have to be washed or dry cleaned. Every single item. I. I have a lot of clothes. I'm a hoarder. I'm a clothes hoarder. I'm a fashion nerd. So it's a lot of dry cleaning. It's a lot of dry cleaning. My husband steam cleaned the carpet twice, and it still smells like a kennel in my bedroom. All the clothes smell, the bed smells. And I feel so bad for my dogs, because that just means they were left alone, abandoned, scared to rot in their own filth. I keep, and I say rot in their own filth because I keep smelling it as if someone's gone to the bathroom in the house. So I'm like, Traumatized. Like, walking around the house looking for poop or pee, and I can't find it. It's my dogs. They smell like that because they were left probably locked in a room, obviously my bedroom, to. To rot in their own filth for a week. I've had this dog sitter for two years. Like, what happened? What happened? I don't even know what to do about it. Like, obviously I don't pay her, right? Like, I obviously don't pay her, because now I have to take at least one of my dogs to the vet. I have to pay hundreds of dollars to dry clean every item of clothing I own. I have to throw away the rug in my room, and I might have to get a new mattress. Like, it's that bad. How do you do this to someone? How does someone do this to someone? And to innocent dogs? Like, I feel so bad for them. I'm not. I mean, I've got some content that I'm gonna post from my last couple trips, but I don't think I'll be going on a trip for a while. I don't know if I'll be able to trust anyone to watch my dogs. Like, how do you do that?
