iPhone Duo Pre-order sold out in 30 minutes 😳 now ships in January Remember when I said the iPhone Duo would be hard to get? It sold out in about half an hour 👇 ⏱️ WHAT HAPPENED Pre-orders opened at 8 a.m. ET on October 16. Within minutes, delivery dates slipped to mid-November, then late November. By 8:30 a.m., every iPhone Duo on Apple's US store, both colors and every storage size, showed January 25. Some buyers even saw January 29. That means no iPhone Duo from apple.com before Christmas. Macworld called it the furthest it has ever seen iPhone pre-orders slip. 🏭 WHY This is exactly what reports warned about. Production yields were reportedly only around 60%, analysts cut shipment forecasts because of hinge problems, and Nikkei Asia reported last month that Apple was making only a few hundred Duos a day. Add strong demand, and this is the result. 💸 SCALPERS 9to5Mac spotted iPhone Duo pre-orders on eBay listed for as much as $5,200. Please don't pay that. ✅ HOW TO STILL GET ONE • Apple Stores: some stores may have units for walk-in customers on launch day, October 23. Online pickup isn't available yet, and Apple says to check back October 24. • Carriers and retailers: Best Buy, AT&T, and T-Mobile have their own stock, separate from Apple's, so their dates may be better. • The Apple Store app: delivery dates can move up as orders get cancelled or new shipments arrive.
