STOCKING OUR PANTRY | PART 5: DRY BEANS 🫙 One of the most affordable pantry staples you can stock up on is dried beans! They’re inexpensive, filling, packed with protein, and incredibly versatile. I love having jars of beans ready to grab for soups, chili, tacos, and quick weeknight meals. No more remembering to soak beans the night before! Ingredients: -1/2 cups of dry beans of your choice per jar -1/2 tsp canning salt per jar -boiling hot water Clean all of your jars and lids with soapy water. Rinse all of your beans well in a colander being sure to remove any discolored or deformed beans. This is a rebel canning method so we are not cooking or pre-soaking them. Add 1/2 cup of dry rinsed beans to each jar. Top with an optional 1/2 tsp of canning salt per jar. Then fill with boiling hot water to 1.5” headspace. We are allowing extra headspace in this recipe for the beans to swell up because we did not soak them. Wipe the rims of your jars with a clean paper towel and vinegar to help ensure a good seal. Pressure can pint jars for 75 minutes at your appropriate altitude. #canning #homestead #homemade Canning Beans. Canning. Homestead. Homesteading. Canning for Beginners. Canning Recipes.
