Why it worked

The video leverages high-tension, viral-style political conflict to capture immediate attention, then pivots to a standard news-outlet CTA.

Summary

A video captures a heated confrontation at a New Hampshire polling site where an older man slaps a young volunteer. The clip is presented by Fox News, which uses the incident to drive downloads of its mobile app.

Structure

1Video of a physical altercation at a polling site
2The older man insults and slaps the volunteer
3The volunteer remains calm as the man walks away
4Fox News branding and CTA to download their app

Product placement

Fox News app: (a) it ACTS — the creator explicitly instructs the viewer to download it for election news and updates. Removing this would change the video's purpose from a news report to a news report with a promotional CTA.
