Here's how I create these captions using Descript Creating Captions with Descript Press Enter to continue with an empty composition, or: Choose a file to transcribe Start recording Start writing Start from a template I start by dragging and dropping a video into the script area of the Descript app. Descript is a voice-to-text generator so as soon as you drag it into this panel, you'll see it start to convert your voice into text in what looks like a document. This comes in really handy when you want to repurpose a video into a blog, an email, or a social copy. Next, I usually add a light compression to the top of my audio to get rid of any spikes or dips in the volume. Once the words are visible within the doc, I'm gonna format the copy. I'm gonna separate paragraphs, lines, and even phrases until my captions appear on the video the way that I like. Now, I'm gonna select captions at the top by clicking this button, and you'll notice the text appear right there I'm going to shape those captions according to my style A little color an outline and maybe even a drop shadow My favorite effect is adding that LIVE animation This is when your captions move with the words as you're speaking them Kind of like karaoke Finally, I'll export it and post Descript is a paid desktop version There are other caption generators out there but I love the style and animations of this one and so that's what I use.
