The least educated city in America. I scraped data from all the elementary schools in California from a public website. Gray schools are private schools. Dark red means most of the kids here are failing. Light green means test scores are amazing and light blue means test scores are top notch. Now first, the most educated city in America. Look at all this. From Apple to Stanford to Google, all these elementary schools are amazing, not a bad one. This area has the most schools like this anywhere in the country. But then we go down to Los Angeles, Orange County. Some places with money, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, you get a pass. Some other places with money, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach. Why are these schools underperforming? Now when I say the least educated city in America, I mean the largest continuous spread of dark red failing schools, producing the largest number of students who cannot add and cannot read. A city with the most kids left behind. LA, what do we do about this?
