Do you wanna see? This is my tax return before I started in tech. I was tutoring kids, 17,000 and I had a part time job at a manufacturing facility, that's this 4,000 in a whole. In a whole year, that's a little above 20,000 and right now I can feel my hand shaking because I remember at that time I felt like a failure. So for people that don't believe in change, now look at this. This is one month as a software engineer, more than I made in that whole year and sometimes you get stock or bonuses, so year to date. What was the change? I can show you exactly. Before I learned any of the technical skills, I started listening to audio books. I checked my history at that time and here are the ones. This one is called Grit, really good if you don't like books that are too woo woo. She looks at all these experiments and data and contrast the mindset of like when you feel something you take it personally and you think like oh I'm not good enough versus a growth mindset. You're more focused on the learning of stuff and a failure just means you're not there yet. Another one I listen to, Letting Go, it's about how your subconscious can cause you to fail. To work in tech you have to be a continuous learner and I'm just showing you what work for me to change my own mindset and to change the path of my life.
