Let's find the richest places in Florida using school maps. I scraped data on all the elementary schools in Florida using a public website and I made a map where the dark red are the worst schools and the light blue are the best performing schools. Florida's map is pretty unique in two ways. See another state, here's California. We have this large region of failing red schools and we have this cluster of blue schools in the rich areas. Same in Texas. Here's the rich area and here is, well, it's the opposite. So the first unique thing, look at Miami, there's no big clusters of red or blue. It's pretty evenly dispersed throughout the city. And two, this is the part that will make me sound ignorant, so I didn't know Florida looked like this where it looks like an island at the end of its life. So all these hard to get to places, right? These thin strips of land, apparently is this where people wanna live? And it's not just by chance because we see this happening all over the state. So Florida, why is it that all your best schools are in these places that are about to go underwater?
