I've used some version of this cold email template to transition from a premed college student to a full-time investment banker and then to a startup and then to venture capital. Take a screenshot. You want to incorporate anything you have in common. I know you're extremely busy but would greatly appreciate 15 mins of your time for a brief call. I've attached my resume and LinkedIn profile for reference. Thank you. Strive to sound warm and genuine without being too formal. And professional. Anything specific in your background that would hint that you're a high potential person. The way the person feels like their time would not be wasted on you. And you could actually take their advice and make something of it. Now finally, reference something that made you reach out to this person specifically out of everyone on LinkedIn that you could have reached out to. Why would this person give the best advice for your situation? You can't expect a response from everyone, but in general I would follow up every two weeks for a total of two times. Good luck.
