Here's a day in my life doing my first ever photo shoot for my clothing brand, Mavenhaus. All of the prep was solo and I definitely underestimated how much work it would be. Started the morning slow, journaled a bit just to ground myself. I knew the day would be chaotic so I needed a quiet moment first. Then I got ready, made a quick coffee, and sat down to tweak the shoot deck one more time. Preparation for a photo shoot is key so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. After that I jumped straight into steaming all the clothes with this little handheld steamer that honestly wasn't cutting it. I need one of those industrial steamers next time because this took forever. Switched to ironing, lint rolled everything and packed it all into garment bags. Then I started loading up all the accessories, tripod, styling tools, basically anything that I needed to help me fit and style the model went into this suitcase. This whole part took me like two hours and that's when it really hit me, this is why brands hire assistants cause this is so much prep work. I packed everything in my car including pool noodles and a mannequin. I know it looks crazy but there's chaos in this vision. And the bags were really heavy, like really heavy. Running late, sweating in 100 degree weather, sprinting to the studio, it was chaos but we made it. Got to the shoot, helped the model into the first look and made sure everything fit right. Here's Natalie, my amazing photographer. We were constantly adjusting things, making sure everything draped nicely and looked polished. Since this was for ECOM, the details really do matter. How the clothes sat, how everything fit and looked, it all affects how people see the product. And honestly, I really wish I hired a styling assistant. It was a lot to manage on my own, but it came together and for the first time doing it, I'm proud. I learned a lot that will definitely take me to the next shoot. There's some things that you really just can't plan for and you have to learn on the spot. After we wrapped up, I treated myself to sushi and a lychee martini. It was supposed to be take out but I ended up sitting at the bar and just relaxing. It was honestly a really good time and that was my day.
