EDIT: by “the genre”, i’m referring to poetry. yes another draft because i have been incapacitated today… right when i planned on filming 😃. BUT here’s what’s up next on the docket: 1. an october TBR/reintroduction post 2. some reviews of discovery sets by @Paraphrase Perfume and @alloy studio! RE this post: don’t get me wrong, there’s lots to be said about rupi kaur’s craft and the negative effects of the mimicry she inspired. but i imagine there are dozens of people out there who may have never come to like poetry or graduate to the more well-rounded poets people often suggest in kaur’s place had they not first been introduced to the genre by milk & honey. i know of many young writers who started with the book because it seemed less “intimidating” than some of the more classic household names and now feel more comfortable interpreting them having tested themselves against something with a lower barrier to entry. #poetrytok #foryoupage #tiktokpoetry #writersoftiktok #BookTok
